That's my mom. She's pretty rad.

Hello, weary internet traveler, my name is CJ. I am a graduate of an average sized midwestern school known as Ball State University. My degree is a Bachelor of Science in Music Media Production and Industry (more about that below), and I love anything and everything audio production. I created this website to not only serve as a portfolio of sorts, but a way for potential employers to get an idea of who I am. So please, stay as long as you like, and if you wish to speak to me about employment opportunities or otherwise, visit the contact page to find out how.

background info

Ball State University

Bachelor of Science in Music Media Production and Industry

This is that average sized state school I mentioned earlier. Located in Muncie, Indiana. In my opinion, Music Media Production and Industry holds the title for the most ambiguous and potentially confusing name of any major offered at Ball State, so allow me to elaborate. The MMPI (Music Media Production and Industry) major focuses on the recording, mixing, production, and even composition of music. It is part of Ball State's school of music, and as such, students are required to complete many of the same courses that other music students do. The idea is that this will give us an edge over graduates of similar programs from different universities.  For more information, visit the Music Media Production page at Ball State University's website.

Intern, Summer 2013

As an intern at Dark Horse Recording, I was responsible for microphone inventory, session setup and teardown, cable/gear repair, and general studio maintenance.

Ball State University Singers

Lead Technician, January 2015 - May 2015

The University Singers are Ball State's collegiate level show choir, where everyone in the group is a student, including the band and technical staff. I started on the tech crew in August 2014, but when our lead technician had to leave at semester's end, myself and one other member stepped up to co-lead the team. In addition to providing sound reinforcement, responsibilities included transporting the set and gear to and from the venue in a 26 ft. truck, supervising
and facilitating set-up and tear-down procedures, and communicating artistic instructions from choir director.

Library Assistant, Summer 2013

Because my internship at Dark Horse was unpaid, I had to get another job to supplement my income. I shelved and organized books, CD's, DVD's, and other media. I also transcribed various music-related interviews, greeted guests, and processed checkouts/returns.

Resident Assistant/Advisor, Academic School Years 2012-2013 & 2013-2014

I had to take a class and go through two rounds of interviews, but I got the job. I was responsible for facilitating the academic success, personal growth, and safety of 65 residents by providing counsel, educational programs, and enforcing policy. Being an RA was one of the most challenging jobs I've ever had, but I learned a lot about myself, and made a lot of friends along the way.
